A forbidden birth
ReplyDeleteAt 19, with no partner in sight.
Left alone in the mists of the Guerrilla warfare jungle.
She bore a girl.
Tears of joy and triumph filled her eyelids. With all her strength she rose to her feet. Moving forward....anywhere.....far away from the gun shots and gas that filled the air. She buried her baby into her chest....forward she thought....anywhere but here
She continued.
A sudden sound filled her ears. Her chest burns. Blood starts to flow from her chest down. Baby silent.
She falls to her knees. Looks up at the stars as she thought.....anywhere but here!
unsettled
ReplyDeleteI am abandoned, unhomed
although there is much land, it is barren
it breakes things down and decomposes them
it returns people to their origin
one cannot live here, only decay
I will not return, I will find a place
I will make my way up
I will find a place where we can live
away from this festering, acidic landscape
where our energy is extracted
that leaves us hollow and depleted
I will find a way to nourish the people
and their need will sustain me
my stomach is so empty the people could move there and start a new settlement
